There are dinners, and then there is The World's Most Fascinating Dinner: Stella Artois' invitation-only Let's Do Dinner, held this year at Outernet London during the Championships. A guest list built for a single night: Andy Murray, Maria Sharapova, Natasha Bedingfield, and the actor whose name has become inseparable from the evening's imagery, Theo James.

Best known for his lead role in Netflix's The Gentlemen, James arrived dressed for the occasion in every sense, tennis-court sharp but off-duty easy. Amid the low light and the low hum of a room built for conversation, one detail carried further than the rest: a pair of Esmont Beaver eyepieces, worn in a Burnt Orange tint that read less like an accessory and more like a signature.

A Frame Built for Altitude, Worn at Sea Level

The Beaver was never designed with a dinner table in mind. Its lines trace back to the De Havilland DHC-2, the bush plane that spent seven decades proving that reliability and resilience could also look extraordinary. Squared aviator proportions. Engine-shaped end pieces, unmistakable at a glance. A pure titanium frame built to withstand far more than a London evening.

Which is precisely why it worked. There is a version of luxury that announces itself, and there is a version that simply performs, under pressure, in low light, on a face the room can't stop finding. James' choice was the latter. The Burnt Orange tint gave the Beaver's usual restraint a flicker of warmth, a single, deliberate departure from the eyepiece's original Full Green lens, cast for a room that ran on candlelight and conversation rather than runway glare.

The Detail That Made the Evening

It is easy for a dinner like this to be remembered for its guest list alone. But it was the smaller choices that gave the evening its texture: the way a frame catches light across a table, the way a single accessory can hold its own next to two Grand Slam champions and a Netflix leading man. The Beaver did exactly that.

Limited to a production run of 75, each pair arrives with adjustable beta titanium nose-pads, cured cellulose acetate end-pieces, and the kind of engineering usually reserved for a cockpit rather than a collar. It is, in the truest Esmont sense, a piece made to be flown, and as Wimbledon proved, worn just as well on the ground.
